Give to Gain
International Women’s Day on March 8 is a global moment to recognize the achievements of women while recommitting to the work still needed to advance gender equity. It is a day rooted in action, reflection, and collective progress. At Dress for Success Vancouver, March coincides with our founding anniversary. As we move into our 27th year, International Women’s Day serves as a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when women and gender-diverse individuals are supported with confidence, dignity, and opportunity. When barriers are removed and access is created, the impact reaches far beyond one person, strengthening families, workplaces, and communities. This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, reflects what we see every day. Generosity is not subtraction. It is intentional multiplication. When women are supported, confidence grows, opportunity expands, and everyone gains. Building on the collective impact and stories shared last March, we will highlight five Women Who Inspire while shining a light on our Dressing Services program. For many clients, Dressing Services is their first point of connection to Dress for Success Vancouver and a foundational step toward meaningful employment and economic independence. Why International Women’s Day Matters
Despite progress, women and gender-diverse individuals continue to face systemic barriers to employment, income stability, and economic mobility. Access to opportunity is not evenly distributed, and the impacts are felt across generations. Economic mobility is the foundation for lasting change. Confidence, access, and opportunity are not extras. They are essentials. International Women’s Day invites us to consider how shared investment and collective action can help close these gaps and create pathways forward.Your Support Creates Impact
Funds raised this International Women’s Day support our Dressing Services program, often a client’s first step toward opportunity. Through personalized, body-positive styling appointments, clients receive professional attire and one-on-one support as they prepare for interviews, new roles, court appearances, and other pivotal moments. Each appointment helps restore dignity, build confidence, and create momentum toward economic mobility.- $150 funds one Dressing Services appointment, providing professional clothing and individualized support at a critical moment of transition.
